The Alvin Museum Society was formed in 1976 in Alvin, Texas, to commemorate the bicentennial of the United States.

"The Alvin Museum Society exists to preserve the history of Alvin and its immediate area by heightening residents' awareness of the value of saving the past for the benefit of the future"

The Alvin Museum Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit (501c3) organization led by a Board of Directors. Committees function within the organizational structure and members are encouraged to participate in the work of the Society through volunteer activities.

The Alvin Historical Museum is housed in the former Alvin Post Office (owned by the City of Alvin). The Society also owns and operates the 1909 Marguerite Rogers House Museum as part of its mission. This house is available for tours on a scheduled basis.
