The Alvin Museum Society was formed in 1976 in Alvin, Texas, to commemorate the bicentennial of the United States.

"The Alvin Museum Society exists to preserve the history of Alvin and its immediate area by heightening residents' awareness of the value of saving the past for the benefit of the future"

The Alvin Museum Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit (501c3) organiation led by a Board of Directors. Committees function within the organizational structure and members are encouraged to participate in the work of the Society through volunteer activities.

The Alvin Museum Society owns the 1909 house which is the Marguerite Rogers House Museum and with the City of Alvin operates the Alvin Historical Museum. Both museums are available for tours.
